Aussie Bob And Kiwi Terry (Episode 1)

Australia in the 1970s. The crime scene was on the move. Australia was about to embrace the hard stuff – heroin. Leading the charge were two men in New South Wales: Aussie Bob Trimbole from the town of Griffith, and Kiwi Terry Clark, a Sydney-based charmer. The crims in the city were at war over the pickings of a big heist. When freshly released convict Ray Chuck took a multi-million dollar slice without asking brothers Brian and Les Kane, they angered the brothers whom sat the top of the established crime hierarchy. But these men failed to realise that this was the last of the big time heists – hard drugs would be the money earner of the future. One man who did understand the changing times was furniture shop owner and NSW political candidate Don MacKay. Mackay had spent much energy trying to clean up the town of Griffith, much to the chagrin of Trimbole and his mates. To ensure their venture further into the drug trade was ever going to work, they would have to get rid of Mackay.

Bad Habits (Episode 2)

A series of police slip-ups mixed with a healthy dose of corruption meant the investigation into Don Mackay’s disappearance was doomed from the start. Cops from the Commonwealth, NSW and Victoria were all working the case, but no one got along. The Commonwealth Police looked on their state counterparts as plods. The Victorian Police suspected the NSW Blues of corruption, and the NSW cops, in turn, thought the Vics a bunch of trigger-happy cowboys. But while the investigation continued, so did the work on the underside. Terry Clark learnt one of his colleagues had begun undercutting him. The result was two people dead by Clark’s own hand. In Melbourne, wannabe hit man Chris Flannery, with encouragement from wife Kath, scored his first contract. Meanwhile, in Griffith, Bob Trimbole discovered Barbara Mackay still shooting her mouth off about drugs in the area, despite what had happened to her husband. Trimbole knew it was time to teach her a lesson.

Brave New World (Episode 3)

When New Zealand kindergarten teacher Allison Dine arrives in Australia with boyfriend Wayne Robb, she is looking for a chance to leave small town New Zealand and the pain of her mother’s recent death behind. She soon meets Wayne’s extended network of New Zealanders including his boss, Terry Clark. Irresistibly attracted to Terry’s easy charm, he sees Allison as a perfect model of a new breed of heroin courier: adventurous, beautiful and a little bit vulnerable. Meanwhile, straight NSW cop Warwick Mobbs teams with Commonwealth policeman Dave Priest in investigating George Freeman’s illegal activities. Mobbs hopes the investigation will lead to some dirt on Trimbole and the Mackay disappearance, but the bent cops in his State department have other ideas. For Allison, the dark side of Terry’s business activities is revealed when she learns of the death of courier Harry Lewis at Terry’s hand -- but she is already in too deep.

While Brian is prepared to give the boys the benefit of the doubt, Les sees the job on Wayne Robb as a sign that the Kanes’ power is slipping. His attempts to muscle Ray Chuck, however, result in Les becoming the victim of a nasty pistol whipping. Enraged, and determined to stand up for his feisty brother, Brian confronts Vinnie and Ray. A Tale Of Two Hitmen (Episode 5)

Sharing an exercise yard with a freshly de-eared Mark Chopper Read may not be everybody's idea of a good time but, for Ray Chuck Bennett, gaol is a safe haven compared to what's waiting for him on the outside. Brian Kane, looking to avenge the death of his brother Leslie, is on a warpath - and Ray Chuck knows it. After Ray, Laurie Prendergast and Vinnie Mikkelsen are acquitted of Les Kane's death, it seems luck is on Ray's side when he is re-arrested for a previous crime. But Brian Kane has a friend in the form of a corrupt Detective Sergeant, and Ray Chuck's luck is just about to run out. Meanwhile, in Sydney, Terry Clark and Allison Dine continue to reap the rewards of their heroin smuggling operation. It would seem all is rosy, but their colleagues are facing an increasing dependence on the drug they are smuggling. For Terry, this problem is a liability that must be eradicated.

Stranded (Episode 6)

The hunger for heroin in Australia means Terry Clark and the organization are turning over big bucks. Terry has more money, but also more to lose. When one of the organization members gives too much information to the cops, Terry makes a bruised and battered example of him. But in the end it's an old New Zealand charge that sees Terry extradited for trial in his home country. There he meets the striking Karen Soich, a member of his legal team, and it's quickly clear that the attraction is mutual. With Terry gone temporarily, Allison takes the reigns in Australia, organizing new couriers to ensure business stays booming. Organization members Doug and Isabel Wilson use Terry's absence to clear their consciences and tell all to the cops. It's only when Terry is acquitted in New Zealand that the Wilsons realize the potential consequences of their actions. What Terry doesn't know doesn't hurt him, but Terry’s on his way back, and if he finds out the Wilsons dobbed, they're in deep trouble.
